Book one in the series about Jack Savage, Prince of the Allagis.
The book follows Jack as he goes from being Jack Adams, a kid who believes himself to be a monimos, a non-shifter, to discovering that he is the heir to the empty throne of the Allagis, people with the ability to channel their emotions in order to shapeshift into different creatures.
His adopted parents are murdered and everything he knows is turned upside down and as he struggles to come to terms with his new reality, he finds himself drawn to a mysterious girl, Zephyr. 
But when Zephyr is attacked, sent into limbo as she attempts to come to terms with her own emotions, it is up to Jack to discover the truth behind not only the attack, but also the evil faction behind it. 
Cheetahs, stallions, crocodiles and penguins, all manor of beast can be found in this society that exists parallel to the one we know. Follow them as they learn that danger lurks around every corner, new secrets come to light and Jack begins to understand that his life will never be the same again.
